Colonial Living Experience:
June
2009
On
the weekend of June 6 & 7, forty people became members of the
eighteenth century. Below is a record of the weekend, as well as
photographs of the experience.

We:
- Dipped the candles that we needed for the night
- Churned the butter for dinner
- Set up our own tents to sleep in
- Dug a pit for the "necessary"
- Sang colonial songs
- Played 18th century games like Quiots, Darts and Cup-and-Ball
- Learned some 18th century dances
- Wrote with quill pens dipped in ox gall ink
- Carded and spun wool into yarn
- Made herbal remedies and cosmetics... and tried them!
- Walked through the surrounding woods to learn about the
plants and animals
- Hoed weeds in the corn field
