When you visit the Market Fair you may assume
the role of bystander or player, spectator or participant.
Music:
The
muses are ever present at the Market Fair. Those whose favor
lies in terpsichorean delights can dance
at the Shady
Pig and Turkey Tavern to
music provided by eclectic fiddlers
who also participate in a competition of dulcet prowess. Singing
can be heard from all corners of the Fair. All this to provide
you relief, respite and diversion.
Entertainments:*
The
Puppet Show
is a perpetual favorite among folk of all ages. Those light
of heart and foot may try their skill in a three-legged
race; one each will be held, for adults and
children. For the more sedate, the game of draughts
is arranged near the Shady Pig & Turkey Tavern. Signora
Bella the Slack Rope Walker
will defy gravity with her balance and control on a slender
cord above the ground. The Swordmasters
will amaze you with their skills, and may offer to teach a few
of their secrets. Gain insights into your future from the wandering
Gypsy Fortune Teller-- but
keep a close eye on your pockets or purse!
Especially
for Children:*
The
Games are ever popular,
including the rope swing, see-saw, and apple-bobbing to test
the dexterity of one's teeth. A three-legged
race will determine the fleetest of foot, while those
more artistically inclined may paint
a fan or engraving of their fancy. Industrious folk can dip
a candle made of tallow and beeswax, or craft a corn
husk doll. Many choose to rest from their labors
by settling down for an entertaining Puppet
Show,
or by admiring the talents of the Swordmasters
or Signora Bella
the Slack Rope Walker.
*Note:
Not all of the entertainments listed may be available at every
Fair. Entertainments available each day will be listed at the
entrance to the Fair.
