Volunteer Training
Those
wishing to volunteer in costume at
the Farm, either during the Market Fairs or at the 18th century
farm site, must complete a minimum of required training. To begin
the training process, contact the Farm at 703-442-7557 or email
kcannon@1771.org.
For those wishing
to volunteer at Market Fairs,
the requirement is as follows:
- Read a packet of information on the 18th century and how the
Claude Moore Colonial Farm presents it to the public
- Complete 10 hours of behind-the-scenes volunteer work
- Be 12 years of age or older to volunteer; anyone under 12 must
be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For those wishing
to volunteer at the Market Fairs
and the 18th century farm site,
the requirement is as follows:
- Attend 1 training session
- Read a packet of information on the 18th century and how the
Claude Moore Colonial Farm presents it to the public
- Complete 2 days of observation on the 18th century farm site;
the first in modern clothes, the second in period costume
- Be 18 years of age or older, or under age 10 and accompanied
by a parent or guardian. Anyone between the ages of 10 and 17
must join the Apprentice Program
in order to volunteer on the 18th century farm site. (Anyone may
volunteer just at the Market Fairs; if interested, see above.)

a costumed volunteer at the Farm, you are welcome to come to any
of the trainings; please RSVP to the email address above.
